Here's a look at my biomedical ethics textbook for my class I have with Dr. Lemasters. Today after our discussion he told me that I was a much better student than I was when I was a freshman. Well it took me 5 years but it looks like I finally got it right! haha

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails"

This is from 1 Corinthians chapter 13 verses 4 -8. It is and has been one of mine and Liz's favorite verses for a long time now and one of the key verses that we will feature in our wedding. I got this fabric "poster" from the Empty Bowl Project the year before last in an auction and it now hangs next to my bed to remind me everyday how lucky I am to be in love with my best friend and the great gift we have been given in each others, and each others love.

True love never fails. It perseveres through sickness and death. Being in plenty, and through times of need. It perseveres through the good times and the bad. No matter what life throws your way, the love you share with your beloved will never falter, but grow stronger each and every day. Just as the love I have for my best friend has never faltered. Never ceased. Never been in doubt.

And never will.

I love you best friend! I'm so very lucky to have you in my life.

My reading buddy this afternoon. Liz got me this little guy a while back on one of her trips up north to visit family. I really like this little dude and he sits next to my desk everyday. I also think it's kinda silly in a way because I'm all about the Dallas Cowboys, and for years the Buffalo Bills were the Cowboys biggest rival and they met 3 different times in the Super Bowl (with Dallas winning all 3. Just FYI...). But no matter the "bad-blood" between the Bills and the Cowboys, I will always cherish my little Bill guy because my best friend got him for me.

Today me and Zach Kerzee teamed up and took both of our youth groups to a Rangers game at the Ballpark in Arlington, TX. It was a really great time for the both of us (even though the Rangers lost 5-0). Before the game there was a Mercy Me concert sponsored by I Am Second (one of my favorite organizations) out on one of the lawns in front of the stadium and it was so awesome because there were TONS of people out on the lawn watching the concert. I took this picture to show y'all how high up we sat with our $8 tickets. Even though it was hot, the Rangers lost, and we were in the stratosphere, the game/road trip was a blast and hope to do it again sometime with all of my youth kids.

Little socks helping me get dressed in the morning. He's becoming an adult cat so fast now, but her still plays like a little kitten. What a tool...

Today at lunch was our first RLC community lunch of the 2010-2011 school year. It was awesome! In the 5 years I've been at McMurry I can't recall the VMMR ever being that full of students for the RLC lunch. I truly hope that we continue to fill that room every Thursday at lunch and grow in God together. I have a great feeling about this year for RLC and can't wait to see what's in store for us as we progress forward.

This is a picture of the statue on ACU's campus called Jacob's Dream. It is a beautiful statute that is a representation of Jacob's ladder into Heaven. To me this symbolizes the struggle in each of us to reach that ultimate prize: eternal life with God the Father, and all the things of this world (money, lust, anger, etc.) that are trying to drag us downward and keep us a part of this world. It is a hard struggle sometimes, but it is important not to let yourself become of the world and it's devices. Instead seek the kingdom of God solely and run with perseverance the race laid before you. If you do your faith will be rewarded and become much more valuable than any gold or diamond the Earth can offer up. Don't and damn yourself to a world void of the love of God and full of despair.

August 24, 2010

On my way to our weekly MSG meeting, I came around a corner in the Campus Center to find this scene. McM is in the process of replacing the carpet in the Mabee Room and apparently it is a Texas law to check for asbestos and remove any and all traces of the substance from the room/building where it is found. It's just a little nerve-racking because the Mabee room was used this last week to house around 300 new students, tribe guides and co-chiefs, including myself. I just wonder if any of the people in the room came in contact with any asbestos during Vision Quest or in any of the many years the Mabee Room has been opened to students and groups on the McM campus.

August 23, 2010

Today was the first day of my senior year of college at McMurry University (for the second time). I'm excited about my classes, especially my hospital chaplaincy class and getting to meet with patients and pray with them, hear their stories, and just try to provide them with some support for what they are going through.

Tonight was date night too! Me and Liz went on a dinner date to Texas Roadhouse and ate our yummy steaks and applesauce and then we went to our favorite spot in Abilene. In Grover Nelson park, next to Fort Imagination, there is a little pond with very friendly ducks who we like to feed and these little dudes came right up to us as we were walking along the trail along the pond and started to talking to us (prob asking for some bread, but we didn't have any. Sorry little dudes). They stayed long enough for me to snap a quick little pic and then ran away cuz we didn't have any bread, and because Liz ran to them making duck noises and they got scared haha.

So my best friend/fiancé/coolest person ever has been here in Abilene and I'm so happy to have her here. She wrote me a little message today, letting me know that she loves me. I'm so very thankful to have her in my life and can't wait to make her my wifey-poo and start a family with her.

August 21, 2010

Today my fiancé came into Abilene for the weekend to visit me and friends. Now contrary to how this picture looks, our kitten Socks really does love Liz, but he is not a fan of being held (as you can see by his face in this picture). But we love to snuggle with him and love when he comes and lays with us. His non-love with being held though kind of keeps him away from snuggling with us, so sometimes we have to just grab him and force him to lay with us. All our of love though... haha

August 20, 2010

I was hanging out with my little brother on McMurry's campus next to the library last night and this little guy came up to us and started hanging out with us. He was so skinny and malnurished and I felt so sorry for that little guy. I might steal him and bring him home and feed him so he can get nice and big.

August 19, 2010

This is one of the dudes from my tribe, Jules. He's pretty cool, haha. But I really liked this picture and wanted to include it in my project because there is more going on in this picture that it looks like. When I took this Jules was swinging like a mad man on the low ropes course at Camp Butman and pretty much had no control of what was going on. But even though this was happening, I took this picture and a huge smile showed up on his face in the picture, even though it definitely didn't look like he was smiling while he was swinging like a monkey after his bananas. Kinda reminds me of the fact that no matter what is going on in life (the wild-man swinging) that we need to have a smile about us and that God is always there to give us a support (the dangling rope) when we need help getting through the hard times in life.

This is a picture of the finalized Mabee room all decorated for Vision Quest 2010! All the tribe guides did such a great job making decorations and fixing the whole place out. It looks legit in there!

Here is a picture of the sweetastic banner that Holly McKenna, Natalie Colpits and myself made for our tribe to use during Vision Quest. It was just a fun little project and we based the theme of our banner on the goofy cheer we made up for ourselves.

This is a view of the sanctuary of Anson First United Methodist Church, in Anson, Tx. I preached there this last weekend for the first time and it went so much better than I had thought it would go.

New Focus

Hey dudes, am switching gears here on this blog and have decided to try this thing called the 365 Project. What this is, is simply taking a picture and sharing it with the intent to chronicle the happenings in your life for a full year, highlighting either the important events that occurred, or whatever else you want to show. I hope you enjoy the pics and come along with me on this journey!
